Sara always claimed victory in our arguments. No matter the topic, she’d smirk and say, “See, I win again!” After one too many of those, I decided to call for backup. That’s when I found Argue Your Heart Out—a game you could instantly download to “settle disputes” and “strengthen communication.” Perfect.
I downloaded it and tossed my phone to Sara. “Let’s see if you’re as good as you think you are.”
We started playing, and the first question was, “Who would survive a zombie apocalypse?” Of course, she picked herself. “I’m faster,” she declared. I rolled my eyes, already regretting this.
But the game got deeper. Soon, we were sharing childhood dreams, secret fears, and Sara’s bizarre obsession with bad reality TV. Who knew?
By the end, we weren’t keeping score anymore—mostly because I’d lost every round. But we’d learned so much about each other that it didn’t matter. Sara looked at me, still smirking. “I still won, didn’t I?”
“Yeah,” I admitted, “but now I know your weaknesses. Next time, I’m winning the zombie apocalypse.”
We laughed, realizing that maybe, just maybe, we didn’t need a scoreboard after all.
